The object manifests an idea in material that reflects on a presence in space, a shared encounter. The work consist of two elements that are carved out of white Italian and red Italian marble. The forms remind of stone-like forms or shells, yet they do not define any of them. You have to face them as man-made objects.
One form is 104cm x 49cm x 42cm in size and is made from two different pieces of stone that rest on top of each other. The stones define a level that becomes an inherent quality of the form. It is parallel to the ground level - and refers to the level of water as well as the horizon line. The second element is 92cm x 50cm x 20cm in size and is made out of the same stone that builds the bottom part of the larger piece. Its top level is equal to the indicated level inside of the other element.

2 elements, italian marble (white and red)
stone 1: 104cm x 49cm x 42cm; stone 2: 92cm x 50cm x 20cm
Together, the two elements are a subtle reminder that you reach the ground and share space - with persons and things. This awareness is defined by the object that connects with the experience during the encounter. The object urges you to reconsider your location in space and shares this urge by manifesting a position in regard to the space that you share with it. It indicates a balance that is similar to the insight into uprightness as a human being.
